How To Find The Right Builder For Your Knockdown Rebuild

Share

Modern two-story house with a white exterior, dark roof, and attached garage, surrounded by greenery.

Finding the right builder for your knockdown rebuild is a big decision, and one that you shouldn’t take lightly. It can be tempting to just go with the cheapest quote, but this could come back to bite you in the long run. When it comes to building work, it pays to do your research and find someone who shares your vision and values – someone who will look after you throughout the project. Here are some tips on how to find that special builder:

Experience and reliability.

Your builder should have a history of successfully completing projects. This means they should have completed projects in the past that were similar to your project, and they should have delivered on time and on budget.

You can find out how many houses your builder has built by asking them for references or checking their website. If you don’t see any work listed on their site, ask them for some examples of previous projects so you can get an idea of what kind of quality you’re getting into with this builder.  At GW Homes we have built over 5000 residential homes across Queensland.

Past Work

Get a list of references, and check out the quality of their past construction projects. Look at their portfolios, social media, website and testimonials.

Accreditation: Check that they are licensed and accredited by the relevant local council or other relevant authority (e.g. QBCC). You can check out our QBCC license here.

Happy Customers

It’s also worth noting that happy customers are a good sign.

If a builder has years of experience and has built hundreds of homes, it’s likely they have satisfied customers. You can find these people by asking around or checking their websites. If you ask them why they used this builder, what were the results?

Happy customers will tell their friends about their experience with the builder. They’ll also tell them about products and service provided by the company so that other people too can benefit from it!

At GW Homes we are happy to put you in touch with existing clients to discuss their building experience with us.

Financial Security and Inclusions

You need to understand that there are two things to consider. You must be sure your builder is financially secure, and you also need to be sure the builder is including everything in your rebuild contract.

What does it mean when a builder says they are financially secure? It means they have good credit with their suppliers, which means they can buy materials and services at a good price. This will ensure that the cost of your rebuild is not inflated by supply costs due to a lack of experience or poor credit history. Also, if something goes wrong during the build, you want someone who has enough money in their bank account not only for themselves but for their workers as well.

GW Homes has been in business since 1966 and have weathered many financial down turns.  Rest assured when we start a build it will be finished on time and on budget.

One Stop Shop for all your Needs

Design and build. One point of contact. No need to constantly change builders as each stage of the project progresses. One point of responsibility, accountability and contact for all your needs; from start to finish you will deal with the same design consultant from beginning to end.

A good builder will offer you a competitive price whilst also providing you with the best customer experience possible.

While price is important, it’s not the only thing you should consider when choosing a builder. You should also look for quality of workmanship, as well as a customer experience that makes you feel comfortable and at ease. When choosing your builder, make sure they are financially secure and won’t go out of business before they’ve finished your project.

Finding the right builder for your home renovation or reno is a big decision. These people will be spending hours in your home and working on what is essentially your biggest investment, so it’s important to find someone who you can trust 100%. It’s not just about finding someone who is cheap either, as there are many builders out there with great prices but who won’t necessarily give you great service or quality workmanship.
