This beautiful custom home on a difficult block had many challenging design aspects for the GW Homes team to address. Located in the BCC Demolition Control Precinct (now the Neighbourhood Character Overlay), it was also sited on a very steep street that meant the block had a lot of side slope.

To build on this difficult block GW Homes constructed a brick base up to the slab. In this way we maximised the ‘ground floor’ living space of the home and ensured the design worked seamlessly with the sloping block.

A crucial design requirement was making the most of the stunning city views available at the back of the difficult block. To do this we modified a standard GW Homes design to increase the height of the home and raise the deck above the surrounding houses for the best outlook.
