Dual Living – Is it right for your family?

At GW Homes we have developed a range of affordable dual living homes to suit your style and budget, but what is a dual living home and is it right for your family?

A dual living home offer an integrated living area for large families who need a separate living area for a family member but are neatly housed under one roof.  Usually, there are three or four bedrooms on one side of the property and a single bedroom unit on the other that can be accessed via an integrated internal door. Both sides of the property have separate entrances and garages.

A dual living home is where there are two dwellings on the one title yet offers a second living area under the same roof.

Who does dual living suit?

A dual living home suits family that has elderly parents, adult children or a disabled family member that wants to live independently.  With easy access via an internal door, family members can have their independent living without having to live directly with the family.

Future benefits

One of the greatest benefits of all is that a dual living design can easily be turned back into a single living property. If your children have moved out and you want to return to living by yourself, a simple renovation can return your property to a single living one, giving you the benefit of the extra space.

Why dual living?

  • Cheaper build costs compared to a duplex or two separate dwellings
  • Purchase only one block of land
  • Lower maintenance costs
  • One set of rates
  • No body corporate fees
  • Have family members live close by
